Dr. Joanne Conroy is chief healthcare officer for the Association of American Medical Colleges, a position she has held since 2008 In this role, she leads hospital CEOs, faculty practice plan executives and chief medical officers around the country in issues such as hospital management, medical education and health policy. Conroy, 55, is currently assessing academic medical center preparedness for reform. Trained as an anesthesiologist, Conroy spent 20 years at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, as a student and then faculty member and clinician.
