Austin joined BJC HealthCare in 2022 to oversee the system’s patient care and integrated care management strategies, along with its patient safety platforms. She directs deployment of BJC’s clinical care management system and ensures the organization’s 8,000 nurses and other allied health professionals are working to their full potential. Austin is exploring innovations to address the nursing shortage, such as virtual nursing programs and care delivery models that include nurses with associate degrees and licensed practical nurses. She moved to BJC after serving as the chief nursing executive at University Health System in San Antonio.
